The selection of regular presentations and brief announcements will be based on peer-review by program committee members. Regular papers and brief announcements will be included in the conference proceedings. Regular papers receive up to 10 double column ACM proceedings style pages, brief announcements receive one double column ACM proceedings style page.
Also, PODC 08 will host a symposium celebrating the contributions of Nancy Lynch and a presentation of the Dijkstra Prize.
The Best Student Paper Award for PODC 2008 has been awarded to Armando Castañeda, for his joint paper with Sergio Rajsbaum: New Combinatorial Topology Upper and Lower Bounds for Renaming.
(New:) The Best Presentation Award for PODC 2008 was split between Prasad Jayanti for his presentation of the paper "Every problem has a weakest failure detector" and Thomas Moscibroda for his presentation of the paper "Distributed Order Scheduling and its Application to Multi-Core DRAM Controllers".
