Seventeenth ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC '98)

June 28 - July 2 1998, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

PODC is a conference that focuses on research in the theory, design, specification or implementation of distributed systems. PODC is sponsored by SIGACT and SIGOPS in cooperation with EATCS and SMCC.

• March 31, 1998: Camera-ready copy due. Instructions for authors of accepted papers
• April 20, 1998: Early registration ends.

Major changes from previous PODCs

PODC'98 will run in parallel with SPAA'98, the Tenth Annual ACM Symposium on Parallel Algorithms and Architectures, from June 28th to July 2nd with joint receptions, plenary sessions, and food breaks.

Please note that the PODC submission deadline is a little earlier than usual this year!

This year PODC especially encourages papers addressing distributed computing issues in Networking (Protocols, and Architectures), on the Internet, and the World Wide Web.

Best student paper award

This year, the best student paper award went to:

• Tight Lower Bounds for Randomized Synchronous Consensus
  Ziv Bar-Joseph and Michael Ben-Or
