{"id":884,"date":"2013-12-16T11:28:23","date_gmt":"2013-12-16T15:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.podc.org\/?page_id=884"},"modified":"2021-10-29T09:36:46","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T14:36:46","slug":"2014-call-for-workshops","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.podc.org\/podc2014\/2014-call-for-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"PODC 2014 Call for Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">PODC 2014<br \/>\nThe 33rd Annual ACM SIGACT-SIGOPS Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing<br \/>\nParis, France, July 15-19, 2014<\/p>\n<p>The 33rd Annual ACM SIGACT-SIGOPS Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC 2014), which will be held in Paris, France on July 15-18, 2014, invites proposals for up to 1.5 day workshops that are closely related to the current scope of the conference or are new emerging research fields complementing or extending it, including but not restricted to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>algorithms for distributed systems and their complexity,<\/li>\n<li>cluster, cloud, grid and high-performance computing,<\/li>\n<li>communication networks: protocols, architectures, services, applications,<\/li>\n<li>sensor, mobile, ad-hoc, robot and peer-to-peer networks,<\/li>\n<li>concurrent programming, synchronization, shared and transactional memory,<\/li>\n<li>cryptographic protocols and system security,<\/li>\n<li>distributed operating systems, databases and programming languages,<\/li>\n<li>dynamic, adaptive and machine learning based distributed algorithms,<\/li>\n<li>self-stabilizing, self-organizing and autonomic systems,<\/li>\n<li>formal methods, semantics and verification of concurrent systems,<\/li>\n<li>fault tolerance, reliability, availability of distributed systems,<\/li>\n<li>game-theoretic approaches to distributed computing,<\/li>\n<li>information theory, codes and reliable communication,<\/li>\n<li>Internet applications, social networks and complex networks,<\/li>\n<li>multiprocessor and multi-core architectures and algorithms,<\/li>\n<li>nanonetworks and biological distributed algorithms,<\/li>\n<li>quantum and optics based distributed algorithms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Workshops will be held in conjunction with PODC on 15 July, in exceptional cases after the main PODC conference program. Interested members of the community are invited to send proposals for workshops by email to the workshop co-chairs:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Dariusz Kowalski &lt;<a href=\"mailto:D.Kowalski@liverpool.ac.uk\">D.Kowalski@liverpool.ac.uk<\/a>&gt;<br \/>\nSebastien Tixeuil &lt;<a href=\"mailto:Sebastien.Tixeuil@lip6.fr\">Sebastien.Tixeuil@lip6.fr<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p>The following are required in a workshop proposal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Title of the workshop;<\/li>\n<li>An abstract describing the main focus of the workshop and why it<br \/>\nwould be of interest to the PODC community;<\/li>\n<li>Names and contact information of the organizers;<\/li>\n<li>Estimated number of submitted and accepted papers, duration of the<br \/>\nworkshop, and a brief description of the review process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although PODC will provide organizational and administrative support for the co-located workshops, they must be prepared to bear their own expenses (e.g., those associated with the meeting rooms and catering).
