About Huatulco

Located in the state of Oaxaca, on the Pacific Coast at the south of Mexico, Huatulco (pronounced [wa’tulko]; wah-TOOL-coh) was once a small fishing village but has long since transformed into a mainstream travel destination (local airport code HUX).

Oaxaca is one of Mexico’s most ethnically diverse states, with a large concentration of indigenous groups who are chiefly engaged in subsistence farming. Some two-fifths of state residents of the state speak indigenous languages, notably Zapotec, Mixtec, Mazatec, Chinantec, and Mixé. Huatulco offers unique culinary experiences, coffee plantations, mezcal boutiques, thriving sea life along its protected shoreline and through its historical sites. Offering an abundance of world class land and water activities, guided by those whose families have spent generations on this coastline. The weather tends to be a strong factor as most tourists venturing to the Oaxacan coast seek its incredible 330 days/year of sunshine.
